Within the framework of the “Greek-Turkish Youth Partnership Initiative”, the Center for International and European Studies (CIES) plans to organize the 6th Greek-Turkish Young Leaders Symposium (GTYLS) on Security to provide a forum for study, dialogue, and networking for young Greeks and Turks. The CIES aims to ensure that tomorrow’s political, business, social, and academic elites construct a framework which makes dialogue a key and requisite component of the relationship and build trust between the two countries. Considering the current circumstances due to the Covid-19, the 6th GTYLS will be organized online via the CIES’s Zoom platform. Sessions will be extended over a number of days and be limited to three hours a day. An online version of the Peer-to Peer Workshop will also be held. Finally, there will be panels led by speakers and peer-to peer workshop sessions led by 2 trainers. The GTYLS will be held between 3 and 10 December 2020 in the form of six-seven 3-hour long online sessions between 18:00 and 21:00. There will also be 2-3 webinars to be held in November and December 2020 with experts addressing the current context between the two countries. The themes of this year’s sessions are “Greek-Turkish Relations: The State of Play”, “The Application of Liberal Values to Greek-Turkish Relations”, “The Role of NATO”, “Youth and Peace-building: A conceptual Framework”, “Young Leaders and Civic Engagement”, “Communicating Greek-Turkish Relations”, “Fact Checking and Fake News”, and an Unconference, a participant driven session.
